Ikuko started her professional singing career in July 2000.
She was inspired by many international singers particularly of Jazz, namely Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday and many more.

Ikuko attended high school in US as an exchange student from Japan and was an important part of her high school choir. She entered a regional Pop Music competition and
came first out of many talented contestants.
This encouraged her to further her studies in both Pop and Jazz

Arriving in Vancouver, Ikuko entered yet another talent competition that was sponsored by a local talent agency.
She won the first place with the classic ballad Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered.

Ikuko became hooked on Jazz interpretation and continued to further her singing while working with noted jazz pianist such as Ron Johnston and building an extensive repertoire.

Her diligence has certainly paid off. In May of 2002, she opened for the legendary, RAY BROWN TRIO.
Mr. Brown enjoyed her as a true lyricist and encouraged her to keep working and listening. He was impressed by her delivery and her interpretation.

Ikuko's other mentor was the legendary LINTON GARNER who was the house pianist at Rossinis for 12 years until his untimely recent passing. Linton was a also responsible for encouraging Ikuko with her career.

She has also worked in Nagoya, Japan and had memorable experiences with local musicians. She is always welcome to play with them at the time of her visit.

She has been busy over the past several years headlining at the Jazz restaurant Rossini's and actively singing at corporate functions and events in the city.
